12 Hours in Miami: Everything You Need to Know for a Perfect Miami Day Trip
Full disclosure: you might have that Will Smith song stuck in your head throughout this entire post. I recently got back from a short trip to Miami and I was reminded just how much I love this city. Its the perfect getaway- good food, beautiful scenery, and plenty of things to do. Every time I go to Miami, it seems like I am only there for a day or two. So I end up sitting in the Denver or Detroit airport for 5ish hours without actually feeling like I can say I’ve been to Colorado or Michigan. Sometimes, you can use layovers to your advantage. I experienced my first stopover during a trip to Europe. I ended up having about 24 hours to explore Iceland before continuing on to London. And most recently, I had a 16 hour layover in Los Angeles. When booking…

8 Free & Cheap Things to Do in Cairns
Cairns is considered the “Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef” and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from this city. After all, I only included Cairns on my 2-week Australian trip so I could snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. I figured most tourists use Cairns as a home base for other adventurous day trips So, I anticipated a Gatlinburg or Niagara Falls situation- a slightly run-down city filled with overpriced go-karts, amusement rides, and carnival food. But I was pleasantly surprised by Cairns. Sure, there were some overpriced souvenir shops. And many tourists do use Cairns as a home base before visiting the Great Barrier Reef or the Daintree Rainforest.…
