5 Beautiful Spots in London to Give You Serious Wanderlust
London holds a special place in my heart. I studied abroad in this city and it was here that my travel bug really ramped up. Plus, my husband and I got engaged here.
But besides my personal connections, London is an undeniably amazing city. The culture, sites, and cuisine (say what you will about British food) make this one of the best cities to explore.
I had trouble narrowing down this list of beautiful spots in London. But, these five sites are the ones that I’ve visited over and over again. So, if you are ready for some wanderlust inspiration, keep reading. Let’s look at 5 of the most beautiful spots in London!
Notting Hill
Notting Hill is the colorful neighborhood you’ve likely already seen on your Instagram feed or in the 1999 rom-com starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. This trendy area is known for its pastel Victorian townhomes and the lively Portobello Road Market.
Spend some time wandering around the neighborhood and soaking in the views of the cute and colorful homes. The picturesque setting of Notting Hill really feels like a movie set. Be on the lookout for blue circular markers on some of the buildings. Many notable residents, including George Orwell, have called this neighborhood home.
Camden Market
Many people associate Camden with the terms “gritty” and “crowded.” But, I find Camden Market very charming. This market is situated along Regent’s Canel. Here you will find stalls selling street-food and souvenirs. Pick up some food and then find a spot at an outdoor table along the canal.
When you are ready to leave, consider taking a waterbus to Little Venice. This is a scenic trip that gives you another perspective on the charming Camden area.
Neal’s Yard
Look’s like Neal’s Yard is trying to give Notting Hill a run for its money! This colorful Covent Garden alley sits between Shorts Gardens and Monmouth Street. In the small courtyard, you will find specialty shops and cafes.
This beautiful spot in London feels like a hidden gem. It can be tricky to find this courtyard (follow the passageway off Monmouth Street) but once you do, you will be rewarded with vibrant buildings that are perfect for the ‘gram.
Trafalgar Square
Trafalgar Square is a large, busy square in London’s Westminster district. Its name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar of 1805. Here you will find two of the city’s best museums, the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. (P.S. they are both FREE to visit!)
I love walking up the steps to the entrance of the National Gallery and looking out across this square. This is a great place to people watch and it gives you a view of Big Ben (which is sadly still under renovations until 2021). Trafalgar Square also frequently hosts holiday festivals and events.
Primrose Hill
Venture to Regent’s Park and climb to the top of the 213-foot tall Primrose Hill. This is a calm and relaxing space. In the summer, this hill is dotted with people sunbathing, picnicking, and relaxing. From here you can enjoy a scenic view of the London skyline.
Nearby, you can visit the London Zoo. Fans of Harry Potter will immediately recognize this zoo’s Reptile House. Primrose Hill is also a short walk from Camden Market.
I hope you enjoyed this list of 5 beautiful spots in London. What are some of your favorite spots that I left off?
