5 Beautiful Places in Washington State That Will Give You Serious Wanderlust
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Washington State is gorgeous.
I’m talking jaw-dropping levels here, people.
I visited Washington for the first time during my honeymoon back in 2015. And in 2017 I moved to Seattle, where I lived for the next 8 months.
During my time in the Pacific North West, I fell in love with Washington State. And if you’ve never been, book yourself a plane ticket ASAP. You’re gonna want to see this place.
Not ready to book a plane ticket? Nervous about the gloomy, rainy days? Check out these 5 beautiful places in Washington State. Then, check your wanderlust feels.

Mount Rainier National Park
What’s better than getting up close and personal with Mount Rainier?
This park is only 2 hours from Seattle, but the weather patterns are pretty different. Mount Rainier National Park gets tons of snow each year, so be prepared for road and trail closures.
But if you visit during the late Summer and Fall, you will be treated to gorgeous views and sunny hikes.
Rattlesnake Ledge
It’s no wonder that Washington is called The Evergreen State. Seriously, just look at that view.
Rattlesnake Ledge is my favorite hike in the Seattle area. (Ok, it’s still about an hour outside of Seattle, but that’s not too bad).
This quick 4-mile round trip hike offers stunning views of Rattlesnake Lake and the surrounding evergreen-covered mountains.
Olympic National Park
If you want to see the Pacific Ocean from Washington, head to Olympic National Park.
Check out Ruby or Rialto Beach. I’d never seen evergreen trees on a beach before, but this made for an incredibly unique scene. Oh, and don’t be surprised if you get some Twilight vibes while you are here.
In addition to the park’s beaches, you can explore the mystifying Hoh Rain Forest. But of course, this is Washington State. Snow and rain happens, so check for road and trail closures before you go.
Kerry Park
Seattle is damn beautiful.
Yes, the PNW is filled with places to escape into nature. But you can also get some pretty scenic views right in the city.
Kerry Park is my favorite viewpoint in the city. Check it out at sunset for a stunning view of downtown. And, if you are lucky, you might even spot Mount Rainier off in the distance.
Discovery Park Lighthouse
Alright, one more Seattle site. (Did you recognize this as Seattle?)
Yep! Like I said, there are plenty of scenic views in Seattle. You can find this view in North Seattle’s Discovery Park.
This park is the perfect place to hike, bike, or run in nature without leaving the city. You can reach this lighthouse by taking a short detour fro the 2.8-mile Discovery Park Loop Trail.
