3 Reasons You Need to Visit NYC’s Edible Cookie Dough Shop

What is better than cookie dough? Cookies? No, because you wish you were just eating the dough instead. Puppies? I mean maybe but it doesn’t matter because this shop offers dog-safe cookie dough too. Ok you get the point. Cookie dough is the best! I swear, most of the times I make cookies it is really just an excuse to eat the dough.

DO

When I learned that an edible cookie dough shop existed in NYC I knew I had to check it out ASAP. I was not disappointed and in fact it has become my favorite dessert shop in the city. Are you heading to NYC soon? Or maybe now you want to plan a trip just to try the dough (I don’t blame you). Let me tell you why you absolutely HAVE to check out DŌ, the amazing Cookie Dough Confections Shop.

1. You can Eat Cookie Dough without Fear of Salmonella

Ok let’s be honest: we have all been eating cookie dough our entire lives. I mean how can you make a batch of cookies and not lick the spoon? Unfortunately, I would always have that nagging voice in my head telling me “it’s not safe to eat raw cookie dough.” (I guess I don’t want food poisoning but sometimes it seems worth the risk!) Luckily the confection gods showed some mercy in the form of DŌ.

Cookie Dough

The friendly folks at DŌ serve up scoops of raw cookie dough. That’s right, you can actually eat scoops of cookie dough like it is ice cream. They even serve them in colorful cones. This safe to-to-eat cookie dough tastes just like the real-deal. I was a little worried at first that it might taste off, but one bite and I was hooked!

Do

In addition to their tried and true flavors, they offer a selection of monthly rotating options. Some of my favorite classic flavors are:

Brookie Dough

signature chocolate chip + brownie batter, swirled together

Gimmie Smore

signature + hershey bar + toasted marshmallows + graham crackers

Fluffernutter

peanut butter + darkchocolate chips + marshmallow fluff

Nuts for Nuts

peanut butter + reese’s
cups + reese’s pieces

So yes, you can check out their NYC store for a scoop (or 3) of edible raw cookie dough! But if you don’t think that will be your jam, they also offer ice cream cookie sandwiches, cookie dough milkshakes, brownies, cookie dough fudge, baked cookies, cookie dough bombs…you guys they have IT ALL! Seriously, this shop is so cute and their menu is full of delicious goodies.

Pro Tip: They also offer pre-packaged cookie dough cups if you want to enjoy it later or try baking it at home.

2. The Cookie AcaDOmy

How cool would it be to learn how to make the delicious dough? Luckily the DŌ team recently opened The Cookie AcaDOmy so you can do just that! They offer a variety of baking classes that will give you all the tips and tricks you need to make edible cookie dough at home. These classes are very popular and often sell out. Check their website for the schedule and to reserve a spot.

DO

Offerings include Cookie Dough 101, Couples Classes, and Kid’s Classes. Prices range from $65-$150. Seems like a good deal since you will be gaining the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare this tasty treat at home. Teach a man to make cookie dough….that’s how the saying goes, right?

3. Proximity to Washington Square Park

Directions to Washington Sq Park

DŌ offers nationwide shipping through their website so you don’t have to be in NYC to try the magic. But if you are in the city, spend some time in Greenwich Village after getting your dessert.

Washington Square Park is just a short walk from the shop. This is the perfect place to sit, people watch, and enjoy your cookie dough. You can really feel kinetic NYC energy here. Musicians will be playing, street performers will be working, and NYU students will be rushing to their next class. Here you can find the iconic Washington Square Arch (which makes for a great photo op with your DŌ).

Greenwich Village offers an authentic artsy NYC vibe. There is so much to explore here and it is worth spending some time in this classic neighborhood. Check out this guide if you need some inspiration.

I visited DŌ for the first time on a girls trip with my mom. It was still very new and we waited in line for an hour before the store opened (totally worth it!) Since moving to the city I have found myself in Greenwich Village more and more and each time I find a way to stop by DO. My husband pretty much knows that if we are in this part of town, we will be getting some cookie dough (I just can’t help it!)

Dreams Dough Come True

I hope you have the chance to try DŌ the next time you are in NYC. If there is a long line I promise it is worth the wait. Enjoy it and remember Dreams Dough Come True!
